I stepped on a snake. 🐍 😭

a weekly ritual steeped with inspiration, intention, & celebration...
served with a side of avo toast 🥑

Reader,

I'm terrified of snakes.

They're too damn sneaky.

One second, there's not a snake in sight.

Then there they are, slithering away.

My biggest fear is that I might not notice a snake and then accidentally step on it.

My husband has always thought this was the weirdest fear, given how rarely we actually see snakes and how few snake species live in Saskatchewan.

But the fear remained.

And for good reason.

Because today it happened.

I stepped on a snake. 😱

It was every bit as horrible as you can imagine.

The snake was fine—it just slithered off.

Me… not so much. 😭

I let my "September-Snakes-Are-Everywhere" guard down and that poor snake was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

So yeah, that happened, and it feels important to tell you about it.

So, watch where you're walking because fall is snake season. The little snake babies are being born and they're soaking up the last rays of summer before they go hide in their horrible snake pits for the winter. You've been warned.

Also—just because something is SUPER UNLIKELY to happen doesn't mean that it won't.

If you've been relying on social media to sustain and grow your business and haven't put any effort into growing and nurturing your email list… what would you do if you suddenly lost your IG account, or if IG just… disappeared? Just sayin' 😎

I wrote this blog post a while back about what to do when you haven't sent an email in a while—give it a read if you're thinking it's time to dust off the ol' MailChimp list.

📓3 ideas for emails you can send your list this week

  1. Weird food you ate as a kid and relate it to being creative when you have limited resources (like cinnamon sugar toast, soda crackers with butter, chocolate chips, etc.).
  2. A big breakthrough you had recently that helped you move forward in an area you were stuck (like a new workout program or nutrition program you tried, or a piece of equipment you've been avoiding at the gym and you tried it out, or a book you read that changed everything for you).
  3. Teach your audience something foundational in your work that's often gatekept or not talked about enough (like how to understand Sanskrit yoga pose names, or what light language is, or how to figure out your astrology chart).

🛠️ tools I'm loving

Squarespace: I'm in my Squarespace renaissance. I moved both my websites over this summer, and the simplicity is giving me LIFE.

Descript: I haven't used it much, but I was working on a client project the other day, and I have to say, it's an impressive tool for editing video and podcasts! Very effective for repurposing content.

IG Edits App: I've been knocking out B-roll reels super quickly with my new Edits app workflow. I create the reel in Edits, download it to my phone, then upload it to IG, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube via Metricool. Super quick and easy to work with!
